What we collect, and why

We collect only what's necessary for the purposes below — the site has no sign-up and no forms; you contact us by email if you choose to (NZ Privacy Act 2020, IPP 1). Where the EU/UK GDPR applies, the lawful basis for each is noted.

• Hosting & security logs. Our host (Netlify) automatically logs technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the site and protect it against abuse. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating a secure website.
• Analytics. If — and only if — you accept, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used (pages viewed, approximate location, device/browser). Nothing analytics-related loads until you consent. Legal basis: your consent.
• Email correspondence. If you email us, we process the content and your address to reply and follow up. Legal basis: our legitimate interest / steps taken at your request.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.

Cookies

We use the smallest set of cookies needed. You can change your choice at any time via the Cookie settings link in the footer.

• mmc_consent — strictly necessary. Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics. Set for us, lasts up to 1 year. Shared across modelmycontext.com and its subdomains so you’re only asked once.
• _ga, _ga_* — Google Analytics. Only set after you accept. Used to distinguish visitors and sessions. Typically last up to ~2 years (you can clear them anytime, or decline to avoid them entirely).

Third parties & international transfers

Netlify hosts the site (processor). Google provides Analytics only with your consent. These providers may process data outside the EEA/UK (including the United States); where they do, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Brand fonts are self-hosted on this domain, so simply viewing the site does not send your IP address to any font CDN.

How long we keep data

We don't retain raw server logs ourselves; our host (Netlify) processes them per its own retention policy (typically ≤30 days). Analytics data is retained for 14 months (our Google Analytics 4 setting). Email correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and meet our record-keeping obligations.

Your rights

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 you can ask us to access the personal information we hold about you and to correct it (Information Privacy Principles 6 and 7).

Where the EU or UK GDPR applies to our processing, you additionally have the right to erasure, restriction, objection and data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time — withdrawing is as easy as giving it (use Cookie settings).
